Apologies

I know I am neglecting y'all and I am very sorry! I'm working really hard to get my priorities straight at the moment. I want to write excellently for you. Therefore I must be living excellently. That's what I am working on. Please bear with me for just a bit longer, I hope to be back in full swing in a week or two!

That dang pebble.

This morning as I put on my boots, I felt a little pebble in my shoe. But I was in a hurry to get out of my room so I didn't fix it. It irritated me the whole walk to the theatre. Once I got there I class was about to start so I still didn't fix the pebble. Oh my gosh that little rock grew until it felt three times it's size at the end of class. I had no idea the nuisance it would be. The thing is, it was so easy to fix!

How many things in our life are like that? Little bitty issues that we put off, but end up growing into huge issues that we can no longer ignore!

I cannot tell you how much I wished I dealt with that dang pebble at the beginning. What if for the rest of this week we took the tiny pebbles out before they become huge boulders?

Your feet will thank you, I promise.

New Years Resolutions!

Self explanatory title. No intro needed. Here goes!

1. Read the entire Bible cover to cover on my own. I am involved in a Bible study which is wonderful and I get the readings every Sunday, but I want to prayerfully read it on my own. Pope Benedict said that if every Catholic would read their Bible for 10 minutes a day it would bring about the new springtime. I think I should do my part!

2. Run a 5K. I have always had the desire to be a runner but honestly I am not a very good one. I have long legs so sprinting is easy, but distance? No way. I started a "couch to 5K in 2 months" so we will see how it goes!

3. Read a Papal Encyclical a month. The conference I went on at the beginning of the year really set a fire within my heart and mind for my faith. I want to learn!

Those are the concrete ones. I also have a few abstract:

4. Be more organized. I say this every year. It is a struggle that I will most likely always face because frankly, I stink at it. I have improved though! And I will keep trying.

5. Get fit. Pretty sure this is on every resolution list.

6. Be a better student.

7.Grow in faith. This is always here, always will be, and is always the most important. I am so in love with the Lord it's ridiculous. I don't plan on that changing anytime soon :)

There ya have it! 7 ways I plan on growing this year. Come December we will see how I did!

Recruitment Week: What I Wore

Haven't done one of these in a while! I had so much fun picking out outfits for Recruitment Week. We had different dress codes for each day (i.e. Snappy Casual, Church, After five, etc.) that we needed to adhere to. We also ended up with 3 days of rain which was just so much fun! (<- they need to invent a sarcasm font.)

Day 1

We all got these super fun Recruitment T-Shirts to wear the first day. This was also the day that God brought back the flood from Genesis.

Day 2:

Took the pic before I put on shoes! I wore my Tory Burch Reva's this day. (But I secretly wore my rainboots to the Forum and then I changed.)
Day 3:

This picture does not do this skirt justice. It basically screams "I'm a Baylor girl and I love my school and I also am a super girlie girl." So naturally I had to buy it.
Day 4:

Pref day was after 5 attire so I got this adorable dress from White House Black Market. It was so intricate all I wore were my pearl earrings and plain black pumps.

And there you have it! A peek into Recruitment Week as seen through my outfits :)

It's Official!

I am one of those sorority girls.

*pause for girlish shriek*

This week has been one of the most stressful ones of my life. I went through Recruitment at Baylor to see if I could go Greek. I went in with an open mind because literally all of the chapters at my school are wonderful with something unique to offer. In the end though, I knew my heart was with Delta Delta Delta.

When I picture what a sorority should be, they are what comes to mind. I think of a close knit sisterhood that supports and loves one another, challenges its members to become better women and better daughters of God, is classy, ladylike, and has a ton of fun. All of those things are present in Tri Delt. Not only do I feel like I fit in and have a great time there, but I see ladies that I want to be like in four years. It is a great place to be.

I think that my favorite part of Recruitment this week was Pref Day. It was the last day before bid day so we were all a little massively stressed out and I knew that I wanted to be a Delta. Their party was filled with beauty and filled with the Lord. Brittney and Taylor, two members who are also theatre majors with me, prayed over me during the party. I was blown away by these magnificent women of God. They spoke with such trust and assurance that it gave me peace. I didn't know where I would end up, but I was reaffirmed in the perfect plan crafted by our perfect God.

Brittney, Taylor, and I at the Pearl Jam (I had to wear Pj's- It was a blast!)

That night was one of the longest of my life! My friend Alex and I were going CRAZY waiting.

Proof.
After spending around 6 hours watching Friends (I got the whole series for Christmas #obsessed), we were going to pull our hair out if we don't get out of the room. So we got into my car and started to drive. We may or may not have been jamming out to HannahMontana & Hilary Duff. What can I say? Waiting on bid day makes you cray.

My iPhone background all week. It kept me sane.

I have been relying on the plan all week y'all. I know that we have a God who is perfect and who made us to be utterly happy. With that confidence, Recruitment was so much easier. I knew that the Lord had my best interests at heart, and would put me where I needed to be. How lucky we are! I don't know how I could have done it without Him. So thankful to know I never have to.

And now for your enjoyment:

Gosh I love being a Tri Delt.

SEEK

(Pretend I posted this on the 6th... that was the plan)

Happy New Year!! It's been a long time. I spent my break catching up with friends and family, and there was not much time to write. It was so nice to be home though!

I have spent the past week in Orlando Florida (after a 20 hour bus ride) with my wonderful church at Seek which is a national convention for college students put on by FOCUS, or the Fellowship of Catholic University Students.

There were 6000 students there from all over the country! Not to mention 150 priests, a massive number of nuns, and a handful of bishops sprinkled in for good measure.

Also there were some of the most prestigious Catholic speakers in the country. We spent the week in talks learning about our amazing faith and worshiping our awesome God. I have to tell you, seeing 6000 college students together praising and adoring the Lord was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. It gave me hope.

The week has definitely inspired me. I have had a pretty strong faith life for a few years now but never shared that with anyone (case in point, this blog is one of the first ways I have tried). This conference changed that. Not only did they invigorate us with a passion for the Church and for God, but they equipped us to spread the Gospel with truth and light. We want to help the world and we want to love the world like Jesus did.

The founder of FOCUS had the honor of meeting with Blessed Pope John Paul the 2nd before he passed away. Chris asked the Pope  if there was anything that he wanted to share with us. He simply said, "Be soldiers."

Sounds like a plan :)
